  • Impressions Of Digley: Quiet Paths—Wild Moorlands An Exhibition of Drawings & Paintings by Fritz Fitton

Impressions Of Digley: Quiet Paths—Wild Moorlands An Exhibition of Drawings & Paintings by Fritz Fitton

    June 1

    Preview Evening Sunday 1 June, 6pm – 9pm
    On display 1 June – 12 July
Explore Digley and the surrounding moorlands through the drawings and paintings of Yorkshire’s rambling landscape artist Fritz Fitton.
Fritz discovered Digley on regular walks with his grandfather when he was eight years old. This new body of work is inspired by the places he has rediscovered as he rambles through the quiet lanes and dramatic moorlands, capturing the surrounding landscape in all of its many seasonal guises.
Drawing in the open air, he quickly captures the mood in the moment with a spontaneous, scratchy technique using ink and homemade tools. He develops his sketches back in the studio with water-based media, including ink, acrylic and watercolour. These changed landscapes around Digley — its paths, moors, and woodlands — have given him a newfound appreciation for the landscape of his youth.
All works and an exhibition catalogue are available to purchase. 20% of all sales will be donated to Holmfirth Artweek.
Fritz will also be organising a couple of walks around Digley in June to visit some of the locations featured in the exhibition. Follow Fritz on Instagram to find out more about the walks and the development of the exhibition.
